Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells typically made of porcelain or composite resin that are designed to cover the front surface of a tooth to improve its appearance. They are commonly used to enhance the color, shape, size, or alignment of teeth and create a more aesthetically pleasing smile.

With proper care, porcelain veneers can last up to 20 years. They do not require any special care other than brushing twice a day, flossing once a day, and typical dental cleanings every six months.

Dental veneers are an excellent solution if you have discolored, worn down, chipped, misaligned, spaced, uneven or irregularly shaped front teeth. They are a popular treatment for smile makeovers.

If you have extensive tooth decay, it’s not recommended to simply cover it up with veneers. Talk to your dentist about removing the decay before getting started. If you grind your teeth, this could also be a problem. We may offer a night guard to help protect against damaging your porcelain veneers.

We recommend an even number of veneers, made with the same materials. 2-12 veneers per arch give the best aesthetic results. Most patients get 16 (8 top, 8 bottom) or 20 (10 top, 10 bottom) veneers, depending on the width of their smile.

It’s not recommended to mix materials. These materials age differently and require different amounts of care. Over time it will be noticeable, in a bad way.

Porcelain veneers are completed in 2-6 business days, depending on quantity. We’re closed on Sundays.

Porcelain veneers are done in two appointments. Each appointment can last two to three hours, depending on your case.

During the first appointment, you and the dentist will discuss your desired shape, size, spacing, and shade of veneers. Based on this feedback, the dentist shaves 0.3 mm of your tooth enamel to prepare for the temporary veneers. These are made with a lighter, more flexible, but less durable material. When you and the dentist are both happy with the temporaries, an impression will be made which will be used by the lab to custom create your permanent porcelain veneers. Once they’re ready, you will return for a second appointment where the dentist will remove your temporaries and place the permanents. The veneer is attached to the tooth with a special cement, then an ultraviolet light is used to harden it quickly.

You will be numbed. There should be no pain during the procedure once numbness takes effect. With smaller cases (two or four porcelain veneers), there will be very little or no discomfort after the numbness subsides. You should expect some soreness of the gums and possibly the jaw in cases that involve eight or more porcelain veneers.

The same way you take care of regular teeth. Floss once a day and brush your teeth for two minutes, twice daily. If you grind your teeth in your sleep, you may benefit from wearing a mouth guard at night. Stop all bad teeth habits immediately, such as nail biting, opening bags with teeth, pulling on clothing with teeth, and anything that will put undue stress on the porcelain veneers. You can eat most foods but everyone has a different bite. We recommend eating softer foods for the first few days until you get used to your new bite. Avoid ice, hard breads, hard candy, hard nuts and seeds, and popcorn.

Composite veneers are done in 2 business days. We’re closed Sundays.

Work is done in 2 sessions, each lasting 1-2 hours.

During the first appointment, you and the dentist will discuss your desired shape, size, shade of veneers. Based on your feedback, the dentist will create and apply your composite veneers. Composite veneers are made with a “high end, semi porous dental putty” that goes directly over the teeth in the desired shape. An ultraviolet light is used to harden the veneer quickly to your natural teeth. You will return the following day for a second appointment to ensure things fit as they should.

Gum shaping is a cosmetic procedure designed to correct uneven gum lines or “gummy smiles.” We use one of two methods to contour gums, scalpels or lasers. We use these tools to remove excessive gum tissue and expose more of your teeth’s enamel.

There might be some discomfort or pain but we will use numbing agents to reduce it. Ultimately, gum reshaping’s pain level varies by how much gum tissue we cut away, shape, or graft. Most patients experience a small degree of discomfort or pain during the procedure, followed by a more painful recovery period.

It depends on the gum surgery. If we use a scalpel, we have to use sutures to close the incisions. In this case, you can expect a longer recovery period and some irritation. Laser gum reshaping is less invasive. Reduce pain by applying ice packs to your face for 15 minutes at a time and taking Ibuprofen.

That’s okay, these things sometimes happen. Please try to save the veneer. Come in or schedule an appointment with a local dentist to glue it back on. Your tooth may be sensitive to cold foods or liquids when the porcelain veneer is off.

Yes, for patients that qualify, we will gladly pick you up from the airport. When you make an appointment, you’ll share your flight information with us so we can monitor the flight should it be a little delayed.

Most patients qualify for free dental related transportation. This includes airport pickup, hotel check in, to and from dental appointments, x-rays, and back to the airport.

Yes, we speak English.

Assuming you take proper care of your teeth, our dental work is guaranteed through an industry standard warranty of 1 year for porcelain work. This ensures work is properly manufactured and installed. In the rare case of an issue, we will redo the work for free. We will not pay for return airfare or hotel. We will not reimburse work done by another dentist. Guarantee does not apply to composite veneers.

We cannot accept U.S. dental insurance in Colombia. However, you might be able to be reimbursed directly. Speak with your insurance company ahead of time. We can provide an itemized receipt.

We currently do not offer any payment plans. However, we do accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit cards.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept Care Credit in Colombia. This is a U.S. program.
